Protecting your peace, slowing internal urgency, and living differently in a culture of constant pressure.

Dear Friends,

There is a kind of exhaustion that doesn’t come from doing too much physically—it comes from carrying too much internally.

The pressure to hurry.
The feeling that you should be doing more.
The subtle anxiety of never quite being “caught up.”
The internal urgency that whispers, Faster. More. Keep going.

Many women live beneath that pressure every day without realizing how deeply it shapes their nervous system, emotions, and relationship with God.

But the way of Jesus has always been different.

He was never frantic.
Never rushed by the demands around Him.
Never driven by fear.
Even in a world full of need, Jesus moved with peace, purpose, and presence.

And He still invites us into that same way of living.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 14:27

Rest can become a quiet form of resistance.

When you pause instead of panic…
When you breathe instead of brace…
When you choose presence over performance…
When you trust God instead of urgency…

You are living differently.

You do not have to match the pace of a hurried world to live a meaningful life.

Peace is still available.
And you are allowed to choose it.

This reflection is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and allow God to meet you right where you are.

Take a quiet moment and consider:

  1. Where do you feel internal urgency most often right now?
  2. What would it look like to choose peace instead of pressure this week?
  3. What is one area of life where God may be inviting you to slow down and trust Him?

Prayer: “Jesus, thank You for offering peace that the world cannot give. Quiet the urgency within me. Help me release the pressure to do more and become more. Teach me to live from Your presence instead of striving. Show me how to choose rest, trust, and peace in practical ways each day. Amen.”

When Everything Feels Urgent

How to Protect Your Peace in a Busy World

Not everything that feels urgent is truly important.

Many women carry a constant sense of pressure—mentally rehearsing tasks, rushing from one responsibility to the next, feeling behind before the day even begins. Over time, this creates stress not only in the body, but in the soul.

Protecting your peace begins by noticing what is driving you.

Is it wisdom—or worry?
Calling—or comparison?
Faithful responsibility—or fear of disappointing others?

Jesus often withdrew to quiet places. He stepped away from demands to remain anchored in communion with the Father. He shows us that peace is not passive—it is intentional.

Rest is not laziness.
Peace is not weakness.
Slowing down is not failure.

Sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is refuse to be ruled by urgency.

Flourish Wellness Tip

Two Simple Rest Practices

Step Outside & Play!

Give yourself permission to step away from your responsibilities and enjoy the beauty of autumn!

Take a walk among the changing leaves. Feel the crisp air on your face. Notice the colors, sounds, and beauty of God's creation. Collect a few colorful leaves, toss them into the air, or simply pause to soak in the wonder of the season.

Sometimes the rest we need is found in less and making room for joy, play, and delight!

Let go of the need to be productive and give yourself permission to simply enjoy the moment.

The Sacred Pause

Several times a day, pause for 60 seconds.

Place one hand on your heart.
Take one slow breath in.
Exhale slowly.
Whisper: I do not have to hurry. God is with me here.

This small practice can interrupt stress patterns and help reset your body and mind in real time.

Prepare Him Room by Susie Larson

What if you approached this Advent season more open to the things of God?

The holiday season can be filled with so much activity, expectation, and preparation that we unintentionally lose sight of the very One we're celebrating.

Last year, I read Prepare Him Room by Susie Larson, and it profoundly shaped how I approached the holidays. It wasn't simply a meaningful devotional—it invited me to slow down, quiet the noise, and become more intentional about making room for God's presence in the midst of it all.

As we prepare for the season ahead, I wanted to share this resource with you, too.

What might change if you intentionally prepared your heart to receive all that God has for you?

Make Room to Receive

Perhaps this Advent, the greatest gift you give yourself is the space to be still, present, and open to Him.

✨ A little bonus! I found this resource at 57% off at Christianbook.com. Pricing and availability may change.
